IMPORTANT: Read & follow all 3 steps

Downloading and installing ChronoPipe requires you to follow three straightforward steps:

1. Download and install QuickBooks pre-requisites
2. Download and install ChronoPipe
3. Prepare QuickBooks and Basecamp

STEP 1: INSTALL PREREQUISITES
Third party applications for QuickBooks require 2 to 3 sets of additional files to be installed to allow access to the program.
 
Please note: Compatibility with other third party QuickBooks add-ons and the support file version they use has NOT been tested. Proceed at your own risk if you already have other software installed that interfaces with Quickbooks. The files below are the very latest versions from QuickBooks.

  QuickBooks Online Edition ONLY: Download & Install:

STEP 2: INSTALL CHRONOPIPE
Download & Install ChronoPipe:
 
     ChronoPipe-1.0.3-Installer.zip (1.4MB)

To ensure compatibility with Windows Vista, ChronoPipe uses version 6.0 of Microsoft's Core XML Services. Some Windows 2000 and Windows XP users might not have this installed yet. ChronoPipe will tell you if you need this update when you first run it, but here's the link to more information if you want to go ahead and update:

STEP 3: PREPARE QUICKBOOKS
 
1. Match Employee/Contractor Names
The full name (concatenated name) of all employees in Basecamp who are recording time must match exactly, including any punctuation, the full name (concatenated name) in QuickBooks. For example, you have an employee named "John Q. Smith". In Basecamp they would be:
 
  First Name: John Q.
  Last Name: Smith
 
...and in QuickBooks they would be:
 
  First Name: John
  M.I.: Q.
  Last Name: Smith
 
2. Set your Bill Rates
Any To Do Items in Basecamp that exactly match the name of Service Items in QuickBooks will be imported under those Service Items.
 
If there is a bill rate associated with the Service Item, that will be associated with the time in QuickBooks.
 
However, if the Employee has a Bill Rate set, this will override the bill rate for the Service Item. This a feature of QuickBooks. The employee bill rate can be set in QuickBooks under "Edit Employee:, tab "Additional Info", "Billing Rate Level"
 
3. Premptively prevent one known issue
There is a known issue in ChronoPipe that will cause an import to fail, but if you do this bit of preparation in QuickBooks you will avoid it:
 
In QuickBooks, under Edit employee, "Change Tabs" from "Personal Info" to "Payroll & Compensation Info". You will see a check box that says "Use time data to create paychecks".
 
If this box has never been checked, and you wish it to remain unchecked, you MUST check it, then uncheck it, then click "Ok". Do this for each employee.
 
4. Windows Vista Users Only:

• The Vista User Account Control (UAC) must be set to "ON". This setting is found in the Vista Control Panel, User Accounts section.
• QuickBooks and ChronoPipe must be run with Standard User Permissions, not elevated to run as Administrator.

 
Privacy Notice: To protect the hard work that has gone into the development of ChronoPipe, it employs a licensing scheme wherein the Basecamp URL and the license expiration date are stored on a server on the Internet. When ChronoPipe runs for the first time it registers the Basecamp URL with the Internet server and creates a 30-day license. Subsequent runs of ChronoPipe check the license server for a valid license for that Basecamp URL.

No usage data, logins, passwords or other information is recorded and this information will never be released to a third party.
